Rockstar Games has released several details in recent weeks that have excited fans of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game is set to launch on November 19, 2026, pre-orders began on June 25, 2026, and the premiere of the Extended Look showcase for Netflix users is scheduled for August 27, 2026. However, what has further raised the temperature among players is the unexpected appearance of GTA 6 in Sony's latest promotional video.
Sony released a trailer titled 'It Happens on PS5' on Monday, August 17. It's a 60-second promotional video showcasing the biggest upcoming games that will support the PlayStation 5. Among them are Marvel's Wolverine, God of War Laufey, and 007 First Light, as well as the long-awaited GTA 6.
One of the scenes from GTA 6 shows characters Jason and Lucia in the trunk of a car. That scene originally appeared in the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, meaning Sony isn't offering a completely new gameplay sequence. The trailer also includes several clips from previous Rockstar trailers and live-action footage from Miami.
What particularly caught fans' attention is the fact that the GTA 6 scenes in the trailer appear to run at 60 frames per second (fps). But an even more interesting detail is the sound of the trunk closing, which has caused a real frenzy among players. Although it's an extremely minor detail, fans are so eager for new information about the game that even this has delighted them.
One user on X (Twitter) wrote: "We're so desperate for GTA 6 marketing that we're excited by the sound of a trunk closing." Another added: "I was skeptical about this game, but hearing that trunk closing sound convinced me! I'm buying it right away!"
However, not all fans are impressed. Some expressed frustration that the ad focuses on such a tiny detail. One user commented: "We're really hyping up a new trunk sound, this is getting pathetic." Others expressed doubt that the trunk closing sound is just a commercial sound effect added or edited solely for Sony's promotional material.
As the Netflix premiere of the Extended Look approaches, fans will soon get even more details about the game they've been eagerly awaiting.
