Due to works on A3 between Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad, traffic runs two-way until October, while exceptional transports stop traffic on highways at night. Here's an overview of all key restrictions.
The A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway will be reduced to two-way traffic with two narrowed lanes in each direction until October 3, 2026, specifically on the section between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, from kilometer 12+480 to 15+300, where the carriageway towards Lipovac is completely closed. The Croatian Automobile Club warns that delays and queues are likely, especially during morning and afternoon rush hours and throughout the day on weekends.
Meanwhile, on the same motorway, drivers face several other long-term restrictions. The Kraljeva Velika rest areas, both north and south, are closed in both directions until August 31, while between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges, from km 90+700 to 93+800 towards Lipovac, traffic runs on two narrowed lanes until September 1. At the Sava-Jankomir bridge, at the Zagreb zapad interchange, one traffic lane with temporary traffic management remains in place until December 31.
On motorways A1, A3, A4, and A6, short-term traffic stops, up to 15 minutes, are in effect due to the passage of exceptional transports. On A1 and A3, in the areas of the toll station and Karlovac interchange, ČCNP Demerje, ČCNP Lučko, and during exits on A3 in the Zagreb zapad interchange zone, stops are possible until August 12 between 1 and 5 a.m. On A6 Rijeka-Zagreb during the same period, from 1 to 4 a.m., stops are carried out from ČCNP Rijeka to the Kikovica interchange.
Particular attention is drawn to the transport of two cargoes measuring 98 meters in length on the route from the Bregana border crossing (A3) to Goričan (A4), as part of logistical support for Ministry of Interior personnel. This operation will take place over two nights, from August 11 to 13, between midnight and 5 a.m., with temporary traffic stops at the Bregana, Sveta Helena, and Goričan interchanges.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj motorway, traffic runs only on the driving lane on the Krapina-Đurmanec and Trakošćan-Đurmanec sections. On A4 Goričan-Zagreb, between the Zagreb istok and Popovec interchanges, two-way traffic with a speed limit of 80 km/h is in effect until August 30. The Istrian Y (A8/A9) is also affected by works on the full-profile construction, and on the stretch from the Učka tunnel to the Matulji interchange, passage of exceptional transports wider than 3 meters is prohibited.
On state roads, the situation is even more complex. The DC1 Otrić-Zrmanja section is under works until November 30, and due to poor road and bridge condition, the DC14 section between Poznanovac and Dubovac is completely closed, until January 31, 2027. In Požega, DC38 is closed until December 15 due to the reconstruction of the Veličanka bridge. On DC29, three sections are closed: Kašina-Laz Bistrički until August 12, Prepuštovec-Gajec until September 21, and Novi Golubovec until November 2.
For heavy vehicles, permanent bans are in effect. The bridge over the Dobra river in Hreljin Ogulinski (DC42) cannot be crossed by vehicles over 15 tons until December 31, while on the Erdut II (DC213) and Pribanjci (DC204) bridges, the limit is set at 7.5 tons, also until the end of the year. The bridge in Gunja (DC214) is also closed to freight vehicles and buses, and the DC546 sections in Petričko Selo and DC547 Sveti Rok-Jasenice, better known as the Majstorska cesta, are impassable until further notice.
Until September 15, a summer ban on traffic for freight vehicles over 7.5 tons is in effect on state roads in Istria and the coastal area, Saturdays from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sundays from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Tuesday, August 11, from 1 to 3 a.m., the Privlaka bridge on DC100 will undergo testing, which will temporarily stop all traffic on that section.
