HAK warns: Ban on heavy trucks in Istria and on the coast

On the occasion of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, special traffic regulations for heavy goods vehicles will be in effect on part of the Adriatic roads on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 4 and 5, 2026.

Ban on trucks over 7.5 tons

Although no significant queues or incidents causing them are being recorded on the roads, special traffic regulations for heavy goods vehicles come into force. On the occasion of the Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders, August 5, 2026, HAK has announced a traffic ban for all heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 7.5 tons.

"On the occasion of the Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders, August 5, there will be a traffic ban for heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible mass above 7.5 tons, today from 3 PM to 11 PM and tomorrow, on the holiday, from 2 PM to 11 PM on state roads in Istria and along the Adriatic coast," HAK stated.

Time frame and locations of the ban

The restriction is divided into two days. The first ban period is in effect today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 3 PM to 11 PM. The second, slightly longer period, will apply on the holiday itself, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 2 PM to 11 PM. The ban applies exclusively to state roads in Istria and along the entire Adriatic coast.

HAK calls on all road users, especially truck drivers, to plan their journeys in advance and follow current road condition updates.
