Filip Hrgović (34) has revealed what troubles him most ahead of the biggest fight of his professional career, as he prepares to face Moses Itauma (21) for the IBF heavyweight title. In an interview published by DAZN on its social media channels, the Croatian boxer, known by the nickname 'El Animal', admitted that he is not concerned about the young Briton's power or speed, but something entirely different.
Cuts as a Key Issue
Hrgović explained that cuts on his head have regularly opened up in his recent fights, which has become a serious problem. As he pointed out, this cost him the fight against Daniel Dubois.
"That's the only thing I fear. I can't do anything about it. In my last three or four fights, those cuts have opened up, obviously that part of the skin is sensitive."
Hrgović said in the interview for DAZN.
Faith in God and His Own Endurance
The Croatian fighter emphasized that he is not afraid of his opponent's punches, but he is aware that he cannot control a cut with sheer willpower. In that case, the decision would be in the hands of the doctors.
"If he hits me, I know I'll keep coming forward and attacking him. I know that, but if a cut opens up, I can't close it with my willpower, and the doctor will decide what happens next. That's the only thing that worries me, but God is great, and I believe He will help and protect me. If the cut opens up, it definitely won't be good, but apart from that, I'm not afraid of his power or his speed."
Hrgović added.
Big Fight at London's O2 Arena
The fight between Hrgović and Itauma will take place on August 29, 2026, at London's O2 Arena, with the broadcast available on the DAZN platform. It will be a bout for the IBF heavyweight title, and the tension between the two heavyweights is growing day by day.
