On September 13, 2026, prominent Croatian opera artists will perform with the HRT Symphony Orchestra at HNK2, in a charity concert.
The inaugural concert of the Dunja Vejzović Music Center will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 7:30 PM in the HNK2 Auditorium in Zagreb, as part of the Zagreb Opera Festival, as reported by HRT Music. The concert is of a charitable nature, with all proceeds going toward equipping and operating the newly established center.
The stage will bring together some of the most prominent Croatian opera artists who currently perform at leading opera houses worldwide, alongside new names from the Croatian opera scene. Performing will be sopranos Diana Haller, Evelin Novak, and Marie-Pierre Roy, mezzo-sopranos Dubravka Šeparović Mušović and Dora Jana Klarić, tenor Tomislav Jukić, bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac, and bass Goran Jurić.
They will be joined by the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Valentin Egel. All soloists and the conductor are donating their performances to the Dunja Vejzović Music Center.
The evening's program features a selection of the finest opera arias, duets, and orchestral excerpts from works by Verdi, Bellini, Donizetti, Strauss, Gotovac, Wagner, Dvořák, Delibes, Bizet, Rossini, and Offenbach. Among the performances are Norma's aria "Casta diva" from Bellini's opera, Nemorino's aria "Una furtiva lagrima" from Donizetti's The Elixir of Love, and Mila's aria "Oda zemlji" from Gotovac's Mila Gojsalića.
The evening will conclude with the finale of Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld, performed by Marie-Pierre Roy and all the artists.
The Dunja Vejzović Music Center is being established on the initiative of the renowned opera singer and musician, with the aim of promoting opera art and musical culture, with a particular focus on fostering the development of young gifted singers and musical artists. Its intention is to be an open gathering place for artists, audiences, and young musicians through concerts, exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, seminars, memorial programs, and other cultural activities.
The Center will significantly engage in researching, documenting, digitizing, and publishing materials related to opera, as well as developing partnerships with similar cultural, artistic, educational, and scientific bodies. At the same time, the Center will be dedicated to preserving the memory of Dunja Vejzović's artistic and pedagogical journey, and will house, process, and present her rich legacy, which was recently granted the status of cultural property.
The announcement expresses special gratitude to the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and the Croatian Radiotelevision for their support in preparing this concert. Those who wish can also support the development of the Dunja Vejzović Music Center through personal contributions, in addition to purchasing tickets.
