Tuesday, August 11, 2026, is set to be an extremely hot day in Croatia, especially in the north of the country, where the maximum daily air temperature will approach 39°C, according to the eMeđimurje portal. Mostly sunny weather will prevail, with temperatures ranging from 34 to 39°C in most regions. According to the State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ), the highest daily temperatures will generally be between 34 and 39 degrees Celsius, with particularly sunny conditions in Dalmatia.
Due to the very high temperatures and sultry weather expected on Tuesday, citizens are advised to exercise caution during the hottest part of the day. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary sun exposure, drink plenty of fluids, and wear light clothing. Heatwave conditions will continue to prevail, despite occasional moderate cloud cover. The DHMZ has also announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, will be less hot, with morning temperatures ranging from 17 to 22°C and maximum daytime temperatures between 31 and 33°C.
Although most of the day will be sunny, with locally stronger cloud development, there is a chance of an occasional afternoon shower with thunderstorms. This possibility is most pronounced in inland Istria and the wider Rijeka area. The DHMZ states that in the interior and the northern Adriatic, there will be partly cloudy skies, with the occasional afternoon shower with thunderstorms possible primarily in inland Istria and the Rijeka area. In northern Croatia, the likelihood is lower, so mostly stable and sunny weather is expected there. Winds in the interior will be light to moderate, from the north and northeast. During the day, the wind will be light, becoming moderate from the northeast in the afternoon.
On the Adriatic, a northwest and southwest wind will blow during the day, but the bura is expected to strengthen especially in the evening. Although weather conditions in the north of the country will mostly be stable, high temperatures will continue to create heatwave conditions, meteorologists warn.
