On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the second humanitarian rubber duck race, named 'Duck Swimming Down the Drava', will be held on the Drava derivation canal near Marina Prelog. The organizers, the Prelog Tourist Board and DSR Sportikus, are raising funds through this event to purchase an elevator that would make daily life and movement easier for students with mobility impairments at Prelog Elementary School.
How to Participate in the Race
Anyone wishing to participate can 'adopt' a rubber duck for 5 euros. When someone adopts a duck, they receive a voucher with a start number matching that duck; this voucher must be kept until the race as it serves as proof of adoption.
Before the race begins, all ducks will be on display so participants can check their start numbers. At 2:00 PM, the rubber ducks will be released into the Drava derivation canal, near the bridge at Marina Prelog, which is the planned start of the race.
300-Meter Course and Eco-Friendly Approach
The finish line will be located approximately 300 meters downstream from the start. Prizes will be awarded to the most successful participants, and there will also be a rich raffle for attendees.
It is very important to emphasize that the race is designed in an environmentally friendly way. After the race ends, all ducks will be collected, so the event will leave no trace in nature.
Where to Get Vouchers
Vouchers for participation are available at several points of sale in Prelog: Hotel Panorama, Trattoria Rossa, Marina Prelog, and Caffe bar Forum. On the day of the race, ducks can also be purchased at the stand of the Prelog Tourist Board.
This humanitarian race will thus combine fun, socializing, and a charitable cause; every participant who adopts a duck can help in purchasing an elevator that would make daily school life easier for students with mobility difficulties.
