The call is open until September 1 for final-year students of technical schools, and in addition to monthly financial support, the scholarship also guarantees employment after graduation.
HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o. has announced a call for applications for 68 student scholarships for the 2026/2027 school year, opening doors for high school students training for key technical professions in the railway system. The monthly scholarship amount ranges from €200 to €400, depending on academic performance, with applications accepted until September 1, 2026.
Regular final-year students of technical secondary schools who are Croatian citizens with residence in the Republic of Croatia are eligible to apply. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 across all subjects from previous years of secondary education is also required, as well as the necessary health fitness for the jobs they are training for. Students must not have any academic delays, unless the interruption was due to health reasons supported by medical documentation.
Scholarships are distributed across four main fields. The largest number, 42, is intended for future electrical technicians. Seven scholarships are allocated for traction technicians, i.e., train drivers. Civil engineering technicians can count on seven scholarships, and the same number is secured for students in three-year civil engineering programs, for the position of specialist technician for AT welding. Five scholarships are designated for railway traffic technicians, who will work as train dispatchers.
The monthly support amount is directly tied to academic performance. Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 will receive €200 per month. Those with a GPA between 3.5 and 4.49 can expect €300, while the highest achievers, with a GPA between 4.5 and 5.0, are eligible for the maximum amount of €400 per month. Payments will be made from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, or until the end of schooling if it concludes earlier.
In addition to financial support, the scholarship carries both an obligation and a significant opportunity. HŽ Infrastruktura commits to accepting the recipient for professional internship during their studies and, upon successful completion of their education, signing an employment contract with them. In return, the scholarship recipient is required to establish employment within 30 days of finishing school and remain employed with the company for at least two years. Possible workplaces are located throughout Croatia, including Zagreb, Rijeka, Osijek, Vinkovci, Varaždin, Koprivnica, Karlovac, Sisak, Novska, Delnice, Pula, Ogulin, Zabok, Dugo Selo, Šibenik, Knin, and other cities.
Applications must be submitted by registered mail to HŽ Infrastruktura, Mihanovićeva ulica 12, 10 000 Zagreb, with a note indicating the relevant committee. For future railway traffic technicians, this is the Committee of the Traffic Sector, and for all other professions, the Committee of the Maintenance Sector. Along with the application form, available on the official HŽ Infrastruktura website, applicants must include a copy of their birth certificate, proof of personal identification number (OIB) and residence, a school certificate confirming regular student status, copies of report cards, a statement that the student does not receive another scholarship, a tax administration certificate of household income, bank and IBAN details, and consent for personal data processing.
The application deadline is September 1, 2026, and incomplete or late applications will not be considered. The proposed candidate list will be published no later than October 31, 2026, while the final list is expected by December 15, 2026.
