The police in Rovinj suspect that a 41-year-old man committed two aggravated thefts and one regular theft. They accuse him of thefts at a campsite on Cesta za Valaltu and of breaking into a house in Matohanci, a village near Kanfanar.
According to police suspicions, on the night between August 11 and 12, 2026, at the campsite on Cesta za Valaltu, the 41-year-old stole three canvas bags and a backpack from a mobile home while guests were sleeping inside. The stolen items included a wallet, cycling gear, sunglasses, and other belongings. Two Austrian nationals, aged 69 and 61, suffered damages of several hundred euros.
Around 5 a.m. on the same day, at the same campsite, he stole a backpack containing money and a towel, causing a German minor damages of several hundred euros.
The police also link the 41-year-old to an incident in Matohanci near Kanfanar. They suspect that on the night between August 7 and 8, 2026, he broke into a house and took a wallet containing money, personal documents, and bank cards from a 34-year-old man.
The suspect, along with a criminal report, was brought to the detention unit of the Istrian Police Department on the morning of August 13, 2026, announced the Istrian police, as reported by Istra Terra Magica.
