Croatian international Franjo Ivanović will leave Lisbon this summer. His club Benfica has accepted offers for the striker, and as Tportal learns, Ivanović is now choosing between two clubs: Italy's Lazio and France's Lens.
According to information from well-informed Italian agent Gianluca DiMarzio, Roma's Lazio had recently reached a preliminary agreement with Benfica on all loan terms. The deal included a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, which suited all parties involved.
However, at the last moment, Lens entered the picture with the intention of snatching the Croatian striker. Benfica reportedly agreed to their terms as well, which are identical to those offered by Lazio. The decision now rests entirely with the player.
Although the clubs' terms are equal, Lens has a significant ace up their sleeve. The French club has secured a spot in next season's Champions League, making them a more appealing option for Ivanović. On the other hand, Lazio failed to qualify for European competition, and the situation at and around the club is not ideal.
Ivanović thus faces a crucial decision in his career, and his final choice between the Roman and French options should be known soon.
