The second edition of the event, running from September 14 to 21, brings the debut performance of Tukico from Tangerine Dream, a koto-jazz duo, and a closing piano concert by Hibiki Kojima.
The Japan in Rijeka event will hold its second edition from September 14 to 21, 2026, and public interest is already exceptionally high. As reported by Kanal Ri, the first two concert dates are already completely sold out, so the Rijeka audience will have the opportunity in September to see unique performances by Japanese artist Tukico and the 25-string koto expert, Karina Nakagawa.
The festive opening of the event will take place on Monday, September 14, at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMSU Rijeka). The exceptional Japanese artist Tukico, who is part of the renowned band Tangerine Dream, is coming to Rijeka, and her performance in Croatia will be a first and unique one.
The second sold-out concert will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 9 PM at Filodrammatica. On stage will be Karina Nakagawa, who is from Japan and is a master of the 25-string koto, and she will be joined by Italian saxophonist Hans Tutzer. This special duo creates a fusion between old Japanese musical heritage and modern European jazz, combining serenity, improvisation, and exceptional musical skill.
Fans of Japanese culture and music can still secure their spot at the closing concert of this year's event. On Monday, September 21, starting at 9 PM, at the Croatian Cultural Center on Sušak, young pianist from Japan, Hibiki Kojima, will perform.
The audience can expect a special musical evening that blends timeless film music, contemporary Japanese culture, and unforgettable melodies from popular video games, along with secret guests whose names will only be revealed during the concert itself.
Tickets can be purchased at a presale price of 20 euros through the Core Event system or at Dallas Music Shop Rijeka. If any tickets remain, the price on the day of the concert will be 30 euros. This is a seated concert with pre-numbered seats.
Hibiki Kojima's concert also marks the end of the musical part of the Japan in Rijeka 2026 event, which through various programs brings the richness of Japanese tradition, art, and modern culture closer to the Rijeka audience. The event is organized by the Peek&Poke Informatics Museum, with the support of partners.
