An extremely dangerous incident that could have had tragic consequences was recorded on Saturday at Kraljičina Beach in Nin. A jet ski driver, towing a tube with people, repeatedly sped directly in front of two Fire Boss firefighting planes as they were scooping up water to extinguish a fire.

The footage and photos of the reckless move were published by Davorin Stetner, who immediately reported the case to the police. According to him, the jet ski driver did not accidentally enter the operation area but actively tracked the aircraft's movements and deliberately approached them.

Four Passes in Front of the Planes

In his social media post, Stetner described the sequence of events in detail. "This driver passed in front of two Fire Bosses four times while they were scooping water. He even tracked where the planes would go and headed straight for them. In doing so, he directly endangered the lives of the two pilots who were saving someone else's property," Stetner wrote.

He particularly emphasized that firefighting planes are most vulnerable during the water scooping phase and immediately after takeoff. Due to low flight altitude and heavy load, they have very limited maneuverability at those moments, making any approach extremely dangerous.

Police Report and Criminal Charges

In his post, Stetner also stated that the vessel belongs to a company that rents jet skis and other recreational equipment at that location, and he also published the registration number of the vessel he claims was involved in the incident.

"Here is an example of extreme behavior, recorded and reported to the police today; criminal charges will follow tomorrow," Stetner said. Further steps and any misdemeanor or criminal proceedings will be decided by the competent authorities once all the circumstances of this event have been established.

During firefighting operations, safety rules in air and maritime traffic require all vessels to remain at a safe distance from the area where water-scooping planes are operating, to avoid endangering crews or hindering the operation.
