The Dubrovnik-Neretva Police Department has released detailed data on traffic violations and accidents recorded over the past seven days. Of the 1,587 repressive measures, most were related to speeding.
The past week on the roads of southern Croatia was marked by 19 traffic accidents and a total of 1,587 repressive measures carried out by the traffic police, the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police Department announced on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Of the recorded accidents, three resulted in serious bodily injuries to participants, while nine cases involved minor injuries. The remaining nine traffic accidents resulted only in material damage.
During the intensified controls, the highest number of fines was issued precisely for exceeding the speed limit. As many as 752 drivers were sanctioned for this violation, accounting for nearly half of all measures taken. These figures once again confirm that inappropriate speed is the dominant risk factor on local roads.
Thirty-two drivers were penalized for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 14 individuals were sanctioned for refusing to be tested for the presence of drugs in their system. The police also recorded 62 violations for improper use of mobile phones while driving, and 46 individuals were not wearing seatbelts.
Among other recorded violations, 137 cases of improper overtaking stand out. A total of 236 measures were taken for improper stopping and parking, of which ten violations involved parking in spaces designated for persons with disabilities.
The police point out that week after week, the statistics highlight the same patterns of risky behavior in traffic, with speed, alcohol, not wearing seatbelts, mobile phone use, and driving under the influence of intoxicating substances consistently topping the list of the most common causes of accidents and violations.
