The Turin club has reached an agreement with London's Tottenham for a one-year loan of the 29-year-old Italian goalkeeper, with an option to make the move permanent.
Italian giants Juventus have managed to secure the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from London's Tottenham. The English club has accepted an offer worth €10 million, and the 29-year-old shot-stopper is expected to travel to Turin soon for a one-year loan with the possibility of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
Stijena.info reports that the deal includes a buyout clause of £8.6 million, but Juventus will not be obligated to trigger it. This agreement paves the way for Vicario's return to his homeland after three years spent in North London.
Juventus turned to Tottenham's goalkeeper after their attempt to sign Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa fell through. The Argentine is struggling with a finger injury, and his club is close to securing Zion Suzuki from Parma, according to Stijena.info. The Turin club quickly shifted their strategy and opted for a player who knows the Italian league well.
Vicario began his career at Udinese and broke into Serie A through loans and stints with Venezia, Cagliari, Perugia, and Empoli. He has earned five caps for the Italian national team and was also on the preliminary list for Euro 2024.
Tottenham signed Vicario from Empoli in 2023. Kurir.rs reports that the transfer was worth around €20 million, while Stijena.info cites £17.2 million. He immediately became the first-choice goalkeeper upon arrival and has made 117 appearances in all competitions in London, keeping 29 clean sheets.
Last season, however, saw a dip in form. He featured in 43 matches, but certain errors and hernia surgery in late March 2026 affected his standing. Antonin Kinsky seized the opportunity in his absence and remained the first choice even after Vicario's recovery.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi favored Kinsky last season and confirmed that the Czech will be the first-choice goalkeeper in the new season as well. An additional signal that the club does not count on Vicario was the arrival of Martin Dubravka in July 2026. The Slovak goalkeeper joined as a free agent after leaving Burnley, writes Stijena.info.
The changes among goalkeepers are part of a broader restructuring at Tottenham. The club has brought in six players during a record spending spree, and the board plans to sign two more footballers in attacking positions. Among those who have left the club are captain Cristian Romero, England international Djed Spence, and midfielder Yves Bissouma.
If the medical examination and final negotiations go according to plan, Vicario will soon become a new member of Juventus. The Turin club will gain an experienced goalkeeper with a rich background in both English and Italian football, and they will be able to make a final decision on a permanent transfer after the loan expires.
