Harry Kane, the 33-year-old striker for Bayern Munich and captain of the England national team, has been awarded the Golden Boot for Europe's top scorer in the 2025/26 season. The news was confirmed on Monday, August 10, by the Bavarian club on its official website, announcing that the award ceremony will be held on August 19 at the club's museum at the Allianz Arena stadium.
The English striker's second time winning this prestigious award, having first triumphed in 2024, places him in an exclusive club of players with at least two Golden Boots. Ahead of him on the all-time list are only Lionel Messi, who has won the award six times, and Cristiano Ronaldo with four trophies.
Kane earned this new recognition thanks to an impressive tally of 36 goals in the Bundesliga, matching his own record from the 2023/24 season. However, his overall numbers for the past season are far greater. In 65 official appearances for club and country, he scored a total of 73 goals and added eight assists. This is the second-highest goal tally in a single season in the 21st century, just behind Lionel Messi, who scored more in the 2011/12 season.
The England international, who won a bronze medal with the national team at the World Cup, finished as the top scorer in the German league for the third consecutive year. In the 2025/26 Champions League, he finished second on the scoring charts with 14 goals, only surpassed by Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid star.
Bayern's president, Herbert Hainer, was lavish in his praise for his striker, comparing him to club legends. "Harry Kane is one of the attacking legends like Gerd Müller and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and he has continued that goalscoring legacy to this day, elevating the role of the striker to a new level. He is like a light that illuminates the path for his team both on and off the pitch, as he always leads with strong character and team spirit," Hainer told Goal.com.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, the club's CEO, added: "When Harry Kane plays, the whole world watches. He has elevated Bayern and the German league to a new level. Unusual for strikers, Kane puts responsibility to the team ahead of personal success, always thinking of his teammates. His behavior, abilities, and personality make him the most complete striker of his generation."
