Bayern striker Harry Kane says he is extremely happy in Munich, despite interest from Manchester United and the fact his contract expires next summer.
Harry Kane, Bayern's striker, has stated he has no plans to leave the club and return to the Premier League. He made the remarks to journalist Henry Winter, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. "When I first left, I definitely thought I'd come back for sure. That urge isn't as strong anymore. I'm extremely happy here in Munich," Kane said.
The comments come as Goal.com published an analysis of a potential move for Kane to Manchester United. Kane's contract with Bayern expires next summer, and negotiations over an extension at the Allianz Arena have yet to begin. Bayern risk losing him for free if they don't reach an agreement by January, when Kane could freely negotiate with other clubs.
Last Friday, upon returning to training, Kane said both sides are calm and expects talks to begin this or next week. "Obviously, it's time to start talks now because there's only a year left. That's important. But both sides are relaxed, and I'm pretty sure there will be talks this or next week," Kane told Goal.com.
According to Goal.com, Bayern prefers a two-year extension until 2029, when Kane would be 35, while his camp is seeking an additional year. If neither side is willing to compromise, a sudden departure is possible.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick told reporters last week that the club is constantly looking for ways to improve. "We always want to be better, we want more, we need more, we're always looking at how we can achieve that, it never stops. We're aware of that and we have to keep pushing," Carrick said.
United spent £85 million ($115 million) this summer to bring in Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, but Carrick knows that's not enough to compete for major trophies. The club is in the market for a world-class striker, and Kane stands out as the ideal solution. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, chairman of INEOS, is a known admirer of the former Tottenham player.
Since his move from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern, along with 33 assists. Last season, he netted 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern, plus 12 more for England, including six at the World Cup. He has proven to be the natural successor to Robert Lewandowski.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer told Sky Germany: "Harry Kane embodies the idea that sporting greatness is incomplete without greatness of character. He would be a worthy winner of the award for the best player in the world." Kane is the favorite to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
Kane is 47 goals short of Alan Shearer's Premier League record. United would offer him the chance to return to England and break that record, while also mentoring young Benjamin Sesko (23), who has just returned from a calf injury.
Aside from Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee, United also have Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha as attacking options, but none are natural finishers like Kane. Zirkzee has been linked with a return to Serie A, with interest from Juventus and Napoli.
The transfer window closes on September 1, 2026, meaning United has 13 more days to potentially try to bring in Kane. According to talkSPORT, Kane's representatives have already spoken with Al-Hilal, and Barcelona also showed interest earlier this summer. However, Kane's latest comments clearly suggest that Munich is his home for now.
