Due to a traffic accident, state road DC34 in Medinci is completely closed, while on highways A1, A3, and A7 traffic is moving with speed restrictions and occasional standstills. HAK warns of increased traffic towards the coast and inland.
A traffic accident has led to the complete closure of state road DC34 in the town of Medinci for all traffic. According to the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), a detour is being managed by traffic police.
Meanwhile, a series of extraordinary events have been recorded on key highways, further complicating already heavy traffic during the tourist season. On the A1 Zagreb-Split-Ploče highway, a traffic accident between the Karlovac and Jastrebarsko interchanges, at km 30+000 in the direction of Zagreb, has resulted in driving at a speed limit of 80 km/h and the formation of queues. Congestion is also intermittent on sections between the Lučko toll plaza and the Bosiljevo 2 interchange in both directions.
On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac highway, an accident between the Kosnica and Jakuševec interchanges in the direction of Bregana has resulted in a speed limit of 60 km/h. The Zagreb bypass is also experiencing a queue between the Zagreb West and Lučko interchanges in the direction of Bregana. There are also problems on the A7 Rupa-Križišće, where a traffic accident occurred between the Križišće and Šmrika interchanges in the direction of Krk.
Congestion and queues are also being recorded on the Istrian Y, on the section between the interchange and the Učka tunnel, where special traffic management is in place due to construction work on the full profile of the A8 highway. On the Krk Bridge, in the direction of the island, there is a queue from the Kraljevica interchange. On state road DC1, there is a slowdown in the construction zone between Gračac and Knin, and on the Adriatic Highway (DC8), traffic is heavy on approaches to tourist destinations.
In addition to extraordinary events, numerous roadworks will last for months. On the A3, the Kraljeva Velika North and South rest areas are closed until August 31, while works at the Zagreb West interchange will last until December 31. Drainage rehabilitation on the Popovača interchange - Kutina interchange section lasts until September 1, and works between Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb West until October 3.
On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb, until August 30, works are ongoing on the Zagreb East-Popovec section, where traffic runs in both directions in the direction of Goričan with a speed limit of 80 km/h. On the A7, the reconstruction of the DC8-DC66 intersection in the area of the Matulji - Opatija interchange will last until June 11, 2027.
On state roads, the situation is equally challenging. In addition to the current closure of DC34 due to the accident, the Donji Miholjac-Sveti Đurađ section is closed until September 1, with a detour for heavy vehicles via Našice. DC29 is closed until August 12 on the Kašina-Laz Bistrički section, with a detour for vehicles over 7.5 tons via Marija Bistrica, Zabok, and the Zagreb bypass. On DC2, there is a traffic ban until December 17 on the part between the DC2 intersection with ŽC4111 and the entrance to Vukovar. Due to bridge damage, on DC42, traffic is banned for vehicles over 15 tons in Hreljin Ogulinski until December 31.
Additional bans for heavy vehicles are in effect on DC24 (vehicles over 7.5 tons until December 31), DC213 (vehicles over 7.5 tons on the Erdut II bridge until December 31), DC204 (vehicles over 7.5 tons until December 31), and DC214 (heavy vehicles and buses on the bridge in Gunja). DC546 in Petričko Selo and DC547 Sveti Rok-Jasenice are closed until further notice. Works are also ongoing on DC38, where Požega is closed until December 15, and the Blacko-Vesela section until September 9. DC28 is closed until July 31 between Bjelovar and Letičani, and DC14 until January 31, 2027, between Poznanovac and Dubovac.
Until August 12, temporary traffic stops are being conducted on the A1 and A6 due to exceptional transport. On the A1, stops, lasting a maximum of 15 minutes, will be carried out during the night from 01:00 to 05:00 in two nightly sessions. On the A6, stops are planned from 01:00 to 04:00, in three nightly sessions. From August 3 to September 2, in the zone of the Županja interchange on the A3, traffic will be briefly stopped in four nightly sessions between 22:00 and 04:00.
Also, from August 11 to 13, an exceptional transport will be carried out along the route from the Bregana border crossing to the Goričan border crossing. During two nights, from 00:01 to 05:00, there will be brief traffic stops on the A3 and A4. On Tuesday, August 11, from 1:00 to 3:00, testing of the Privlaka bridge on state road DC100 will also be conducted.
HAK reminds that until September 15, the summer traffic ban is in effect for heavy motor vehicles with a maximum permissible mass over 7.5 tons on certain state roads in Istria and the coastal area, on Saturdays from 04:00 to 14:00 and Sundays from 12:00 to 23:00. Drivers are urged to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and to check the current situation before traveling.
