As fans eagerly await the return of RTL's hit series 'Wild Bees', actors Ana Marija Veselčić and Luka Šegota, who play the beloved couple Katarina and Jakov, have shared new details about the second season. In an interview with Jutarnji list on August 9, 2026, they opened up about the challenges of filming, audience reactions, and their personal ambitions.
Although the series now enjoys great popularity, the beginnings were far from easy for Luka Šegota. His character, Jakov, initially cheats on his wife, sparking strong reactions from viewers. "At first, there weren't many compliments because viewers really held a grudge against Jakov for cheating on his wife, and I ended up on their blacklist," the actor recalled with a laugh. He added that he received some unpleasant messages, but the situation eventually turned around completely, and fans began approaching him with praise and requests for photos.
Ana Marija Veselčić admitted that she found the key to her convincing performance within her own family. "I actually infused this role with my grandmother Ružica; she is a huge inspiration for Katarina, the most important person from my childhood and the strongest person I've ever met," the actress revealed. Her colleague Luka had only praise for her, calling her a brilliant actress and the "heart of Vrilo." "It's the first time I've worked with such a caliber of actress," Šegota admitted.
While they keep plot details under wraps, both confirmed that the new season will be full of surprises. "The second season is packed with all sorts of things. New characters are coming, and from those I've worked with, I can say they're really good people, and I hope viewers will be satisfied," Luka Šegota teased. Ana Marija Veselčić, on the other hand, revealed one concrete highlight: "A new addition is Slavko Sobin," she said with a laugh.
Filming the series has brought significant changes to their lives. Ana Marija noted that her life has changed in every way, as she now lives in another city for the project and is recognized on the street. "I have to admit I didn't expect such a reaction, and I'm grateful for the love and support for the series," she added.
A particularly emotional moment for Veselčić was winning the Breza Award at this year's (2026) Pula Film Festival for Best Debutante for her role in the film 'God Won't Help'. "The Breza Award is given to the best debutants; in past years, it was won by Luna Pilić for her role in 'Holy Family', Lav Novosel for his role in 'Rabbit Embankment', and director Josip Žuvan for his first film 'Garbura'," she listed. "Being in their company is an immense honor... my ten years of hard work is finally coming to the surface, and I'm very proud and excited when I think about the future."
In addition to 'Wild Bees', Veselčić is currently working on the Split Summer Festival, where she is preparing the play 'Herscht 07769' directed by Ivica Buljan, based on a Nobel Prize-winning novel. Her acting dream, however, is a detective role in the style of 'Mare of Easttown' or a villain like the one Jodie Comer played in 'Killing Eve'. "I would definitely love to work with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. That's a girlhood dream," she admitted.
Luka Šegota, for whom this is his first major television project, is currently focused on the domestic scene. "My goal is to do what I love. Acting in films and series, and as for abroad-I'm not sure. I'll start here first," he concluded. His first acting experiences are tied to the Ri Teatar acting school, where he discovered his love for acting eight years ago, and he also appeared in the film 'Room 23' by Rijeka director David Petrović.
