Željko Kerum, former mayor of Split and coalition partner of the current HDZ-led city government, has removed an illegal yacht mooring that had stood on maritime property in front of his luxury resort in Rogoznica for over 12 years. This marks the final outcome of Telegram's investigative series on Kerum's real estate dealings, published on August 10, 2026.
After Telegram previously exposed irregularities involving illegal prosciutto in Kaštela, it turned its attention to Kerum's hotel business in Rogoznica. It was revealed that he had been illegally building on maritime property, which he later mortgaged for multi-million-euro loans, and over 12 years ago, he also erected an unlawful yacht mooring.
Despite a final ruling by the High Administrative Court that found the concession process unlawful, Kerum continued operating there without hindrance. The mooring was marketed for years as a "marina" and an "ideal destination for boaters with all necessary amenities," all under the noses of the County, the Inspectorate, and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure.
The turning point came after Telegram published details about the illegal mooring. The Inspectorate of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure conducted an on-site inspection and found that Kerum's family company, Kruščica, formally run by his wife and mother-in-law, had installed the mooring and was using it without legal basis.
Kerum was ordered to remove the illegal mooring, prohibited from further use of the maritime property, and required to remediate the area and restore it to its original state. Judging by photographs, the former mayor appears to have complied with the order and removed the disputed dock.
It is worth recalling that Kerum was recently arrested along with associates in a USKOK operation, prompted by the first in a series of Telegram articles-the one about illegal prosciutto in Kaštela, published in May of this year. The entire case has further exposed the scale of Kerum's business operations, which had evaded oversight by competent institutions for years.
