Lika's Garbage Cubes Taller Than Everest: 37,000 Tons of Waste

If we visualize 37,000 tons of loose waste from Lika as one-meter cubes, we would get approximately 284,600 such cubes. If these cubes were distributed among HDZ members, assuming there are about 220,000 of them, each would receive one cubic meter of waste, with approximately 64,600 cubes left over, as reported by 24sata on Monday.
The portal also published a video alongside the article revealing the hazardous elements found in the waste in Gospić, emphasizing that the danger is not only for the residents of that city.
The portal also calculated other, equally alarming comparisons. Those 37,000 tons of loose waste, if stacked vertically, would be as tall as approximately 81,000 Zagreb trams piled on top of each other. Or, for fans of world landmarks, it would be like stacking more than 3,000 Statues of Liberty, including their pedestals.
If the cubes full of Gospić waste were arranged in a column, they would reach a height of approximately 2,600 Zagreb Cathedrals. Finally, a comparison with the roof of the world: Mount Everest is 8,848.86 meters tall, meaning that column of waste would be as tall as 32 of the highest peaks on Earth. So, the pile of garbage from Lika would be taller than Everest.
While Croatia faces this environmental challenge, the Government of the Republic of Croatia celebrated a series of successes on social media on Sunday. On the HDZ Twitter profile, a post from the Croatian Government was shared: "Congratulations to our U16 water polo team #Barakude on winning the world champion title! 🏆 An outstanding achievement and yet another confirmation of the strength of 🇭🇷 water polo. We are proud of you!"
On the same day, via the same profile, congratulations were also extended to the winner of the 311th Sinjska Alka, Tino Radanović, for his victory with 12 punata, along with thanks to the Viteško alkarsko društvo Sinj for organizing the event. "The Sinjska Alka is the pride of Sinj, the Cetina region, and all of Croatia, and #VladaRH will continue to strongly support its promotion and the activities of VAD Sinj," reads the statement from the Croatian Government.
