8 km Long Traffic Jam, Accidents on A3 and A7: HAK Warns Drivers

The Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) reported on Monday, August 3, 2026, about extraordinary events on Croatian roads. Traffic is heavy on all major roads heading towards the coast, especially on highways, with multi-kilometer traffic jams and accidents reported on several sections.
On the A1 Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik highway, between the Lučko and Bosiljevo 2 interchanges towards the coast, traffic is very dense. Vehicles are moving in slow-moving queues with occasional stops. Significant congestion is also being recorded at the approaches to the Lučko toll plaza on the Zagreb bypass (A3 Bregana-Lipovac). The queue from the direction of Buzin is about four kilometers long, and from the direction of Zagreb West also about four kilometers.
On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj highway, at the Trakošćan toll plaza towards Zagreb, a queue about one kilometer long has formed. A standstill and queue have also been recorded on the A4 Goričan-Zagreb, from the Popovec interchange towards the Zagreb East interchange.
Drivers on the A3 Bregana-Lipovac are further slowed down by a traffic accident that occurred between the Kosnica and Jakuševec interchanges towards Bregana. This has resulted in a queue about two kilometers long. On the Rijeka bypass, on the A7 Rupa-Šmrika highway, a traffic accident occurred between the Škurinje and Orehovica interchanges on the carriageway towards Križišće. The queue in that section is about three kilometers long.
State roads are not spared either. On the D1 Zagreb-Karlovac-Split, traffic is very heavy from Zagreb towards Karlovac, with a queue in front of Kalovac from the direction of Jastrebarsko stretching a full eight kilometers. Additionally, in the construction zone between Knin and Gračac near Otrić, traffic is moving slowly. On the Adriatic Highway (D8) in Šibenik, due to a traffic accident, traffic is moving in one lane with police control.
HAK appeals to drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and to be patient.
