According to HAK reports, traffic is heavy on highways heading south, with the biggest jams at the Lučko toll plaza, and delays are also recorded on the A2, A3, A4, A6, and on the DC1 state road.
At the peak of the tourist season, specifically on August 1, 2026, traffic on Croatian highways towards the coast has significantly increased. As reported by the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), vehicle queues stretch for kilometers, and on some sections they reach up to 12 kilometers, as reported by Zagreb.info.
The Lučko toll plaza on the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići highway is currently the most critical point. The queue of vehicles coming from the Zagreb bypass and the Kosnica interchange is about 12 kilometers long, while the one from the direction of the Sveta Nedelja interchange is approximately seven kilometers. Večernji list reports that between the Lučko and Bosiljevo 2 interchanges, towards Dubrovnik, traffic is moving in slow-moving queues with occasional brief stops.
Extra caution is advised on the A1 highway near the Pristeg rest area in the direction of Zagreb, where HAK warns of the danger of hitting an object on the road. In that section, traffic is reduced to one lane, and the maximum speed limit is 60 kilometers per hour.
The A2 Zagreb-Macelj highway is not spared from congestion either. Before the Trakošćan toll plaza in the direction of Zagreb, the queue is about six kilometers long and extends into Slovenian territory. Due to the high volume of vehicles, a ban on trucks and buses has been introduced on the section from the Đurmanec interchange to the Krapina interchange, in the direction of Zagreb.
On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac highway, before the Lučko toll plaza, queues are also about 12 kilometers long when coming from the direction of Kosnica, and about seven kilometers from the direction of Sveta Nedelja. Sources do not fully agree on the location of a traffic accident on the A3: Zagreb.info mentions the 195+200 km mark between the Lužani and Slavonski Brod zapad interchanges in the direction of Lipovac, while Večernji list and 24sata report an accident at the Zagreb zapad interchange in the direction of Lipovac. In both cases, traffic is moving with difficulty, with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb highway, before the Sveta Helena toll plaza, in the direction of Zagreb, the vehicle queue extends for about one kilometer. On the A6 Rijeka-Zagreb highway, between the Vrata interchange and the Tuhobić tunnel in the direction of Rijeka, there is an object on the road, so traffic is moving with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
Increased traffic is also recorded on the DC1 state road Zagreb-Knin-Split. Traffic is moving in slow-moving queues with occasional brief stops between Gornji Stupnik and Klinča Sela towards the south, as well as in the area of roadworks near Otrić.
HAK has issued an appeal to all road users. "To make traffic as safe as possible for all participants, we ask drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and maintain a safe distance between vehicles," HAK said, as reported by Zagreb.info. Additionally, they warn that with higher traffic density, the frequency of emergency situations, such as traffic accidents, increases, which further complicates movement.
