Initially announced as a charity event, the performance has been cancelled due to the health condition of those injured in the fire that ravaged Omiš and its surroundings.
The concert by Damir Urban and the band Urban & 4, scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Punto Summer Stage as part of the Omiš Cultural Summer, has been cancelled after all. The decision was announced on Tuesday, August 18, by the Omiš Culture Center, citing the health condition of fellow citizens who are fighting the consequences of the catastrophic fire in hospitals.
Initially, it was announced that the concert would be turned into a charity evening, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to those affected. At the time, the organizers stated: "We decided not to give up - together we will help our people," and appealed to locals and visitors to show the strength of unity by purchasing tickets.
The Omiš Culture Center explained that the decision to cancel was made due to the health condition of the injured. "This difficult decision was made due to the health condition of our fellow citizens who are fighting the consequences of this tragedy in the hospital. We believe that at this extremely critical and emotional moment for their families and our entire community, holding a musical event would be inappropriate," the Omiš Culture Center stated.
Their thoughts, strength, and prayers are currently focused on the injured and their recovery. They particularly thanked Damir Urban and his team for their support and understanding, as well as the audience who, by purchasing tickets, showed their intention to help those affected.
The fire broke out on August 13, 2026, when flames spread from Ruskamen toward Omiš and Lokva Rogoznica. Blaženko Boban, the Split-Dalmatia County Prefect, stated that during the night between August 13 and 14, the fire completely destroyed 106 cars, 28 houses, and 45 boats. Approximately a thousand people were relocated to a sports hall while the fire at one point came within less than fifty meters of the city center. Some patients with severe burns are still receiving treatment today at the Split University Hospital Center and hospitals in Zagreb.
Due to the fire, the Omiš Cultural Summer suspended its program and cancelled performances scheduled for August 16 and 17. Urban's performance, planned as the season's central musical event, was initially intended to be held for a charitable purpose, but in the end, it was also cancelled.
For tickets purchased online, refunds will be automatically processed to the card used for payment. Customers who bought tickets at physical points of sale can receive a refund at the same location by presenting their ticket. The organizers emphasized that refunds will be issued as soon as possible, and no later than within 14 days.
Urban will therefore not perform in Omiš on Thursday, but just two days later, on Saturday, August 22, he is scheduled to perform a major concert at the Summer Stage in Opatija.
