From today, NK Korana Turanj boasts a modern sports complex worth €2.45 million. This is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Karlovac sports, expected to significantly improve working conditions for all club selections.
Key Additions to the Complex
The centerpiece of the investment is a brand-new artificial turf pitch. It will enable training and matches to be held year-round, regardless of weather conditions or the state of natural grass. The pitch is accompanied by new stands with floodlights, meaning the complex now meets the requirements for official competitions.
A new club building has also been constructed, housing changing rooms and other essential facilities for players, coaching staff, and management. In addition, the surrounding area and parking lot have been landscaped, giving the entire Turanj area a new sporting function and appearance.
Key Handover and Future Plans
The complex was officially handed over to the club by Karlovac Mayor Damir Mandić. The City of Karlovac emphasizes that this investment's true value is not measured solely in concrete and turf, but in the opportunity it provides for the development of younger generations. Local clubs, they point out, often operate in more modest conditions than professional teams, even though they are the primary entry point for most children entering the world of sport.
The new infrastructure does not just provide Korana with a better pitch; it opens up possibilities for more training sessions, a higher quality football school, and stronger ties between the club and the community. Turanj now has a facility whose real value will be confirmed over the years, through generations of children taking their first football steps there.
Official Opening at Cup Match
There won't be a long wait for the first official match on the new pitch. NK Korana will host a home cup match on August 23, 2026, and that date is also set for the official opening of the sports complex.
