In a sharp statement on Facebook, Slaven Kovačević accused the Croatian foreign minister of promoting retrograde ideas and interfering in BiH's internal affairs, urging him to instead focus on EPPO investigations against officials from the Croatian Government.
Slaven Kovačević published a fierce criticism of Gordan Grlić Radman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, on his Facebook profile on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. In an extensive statement, as reported by Stijena.info, Kovačević accused the Croatian chief diplomat of promoting "retrograde, archaic, and outdated ideas" directed against the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The central message of the statement is unequivocal: "Stay away from Bosnia and Herzegovina!"
Kovačević claims that Grlić Radman "uses every opportunity, even musical events," to promote ideas that lead to the destabilization of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He considers the creation of a third, ethnically based electoral unit to be a key danger, describing it as "the first step towards the federalization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which they would impose a confederal form and annexation to neighboring Croatia."

He also referred to the final judgment of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the "Prlić et al." case, emphasizing that it established the existence of a joint criminal enterprise (JCE), one of whose goals was precisely what, according to him, Grlić Radman advocates today. "Such ideas were overcome by the victory over fascism after World War II," he stated.
Kovačević also criticized the minister for not understanding the basic forms of state organization. "The fact that Grlić Radman does not know what a unitary system is, as one of the three basic forms of state organization, alongside federal and confederal, what a unitary system truly means and serves, is his problem," he wrote, adding that it "has no ethnic connotation nor can it be associated with any political party."
To support his argument, he cited statistical data: "Of the 193 member states of the United Nations, only about twenty have a federal system, while all the rest, 90% of them, are unitary states, even those that have regions or are regionalized, such as Italy, France, or, say, Spain."
Instead of interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kovačević suggests that Grlić Radman turn to the problems in his own country. In the statement, he urges him to address the investigations conducted by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) against officials of the Croatian Government.
"Instead of again interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it would be useful for him to deal with the investigations conducted by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in several dozen cases against about twenty individuals from the Government of the Republic of Croatia, including his ministry, regarding the misappropriation of European funds and resources," the post states.
Kovačević also appealed to the Croatian opposition, urging them to pay attention to these cases because, as he claims, they could result in a reduction of European Union funds for Croatia during the negotiations on the new EU budget, which he says is coming "very soon."
Concluding his remarks, Kovačević sent a final message: "For Gordan Grlić Radman and similar protagonists, I have a very simple message: Stay away from Bosnia and Herzegovina! You will not succeed, Grlić Radman, ever."
