Cleanup on Vir Begins: Maritime Wardens Swing into Action

The Maritime Wardens of the Municipality of Vir started the first phase of a major cleanup of maritime property on Friday. Across a large part of Vir's waters, wardens began removing illegal anchorages and moorings, with the operation starting by leaving official notices on vessels whose owners had violated regulations.
The Maritime Wardens, operating under the Department for Physical Planning, Construction, and Municipal Affairs, confirmed that removal notices will be left until the end of this week. The actual physical removal of illegal anchorages and moorings will take place next week.
The notice delivered to vessel owners contains a clear and urgent call to action:
"Dear Sir/Madam, a field inspection has determined that you have violated the provisions of the Decision on Order on Maritime Property (Official Gazette of the Municipality of Vir 09/24). We kindly ask you to IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT DELAY remove your vessel from the beach area. Should you fail to comply with this notice, we will be forced to relocate your vessel at YOUR expense and risk," says the Maritime Wardens of the Municipality of Vir.
As previously announced by the Maritime Wardens, the first phase of the operation targets anchorages and moorings that pose the greatest danger to citizens. Priority is given to those located less than 50 meters from the fence of an organized beach, as well as any within the organized beach itself.
This operation is just the beginning of tidying up Vir's waters. The Municipality has already announced a long-term solution, with future anchoring areas to be defined through amendments to the Spatial Plan currently in progress.
