The town of Krk has been in the spirit of Lovrečeva since Saturday, the traditional Krk Fair that has been held for centuries. The event, which lasts until Monday, transforms the historic core into a medieval spectacle, taking visitors back to the time of the powerful Frankopan princes of Krk.

The director of the Krk Tourist Board, Ivana Kovačić, emphasized the importance of this event for the island community. "The Krk Fair, or Lovrečeva, is our traditional, most important, most significant, and longest-running event, featuring a truly large number of activities. It is essentially a return to the period of the rule of the Frankopan princes of Krk," Kovačić told Net.hr.

Four Days of Medieval Magic

The program is filled with historical content that forms the backbone of the entire event. Visitors can witness reenactments of medieval battles, weapons handling skills, and interesting theatrical performances that evoke the spirit of bygone times. The organizers have placed special emphasis on interactivity and authenticity of the presentations.

"We strive to showcase precisely that historical and medieval aspect. Additionally, there are demonstrations of various medieval combat skills and engaging theatrical performances. We certainly want to establish that contact with all our visitors so that the reenactment is as impressive and authentic as possible on this square, making it all happen right here," added Kovačić.

A Fair with Nearly 40 Exhibitors

In addition to the historical part, the fair segment is a must-see, attracting a large number of guests every year. This year's edition will feature nearly 40 exhibitors. The offerings include traditional products, handicrafts, indigenous island foods, and souvenirs, and visitors can also enjoy traditional island dishes prepared by local restaurants and taverns.

Lovrečeva takes place at a time when Krk is once again full of tourists. According to data from the Tourist Board, around 15,000 guests are currently staying in the town. Kovačić revealed that June was somewhat weaker compared to last year, but that July results reached last year's levels, and the positive momentum continued into August.
