Experienced Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku is on the verge of another surprising move in his career. According to information confirmed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fenerbahce has reached an agreement with Napoli and the player, with the entire deal expected to be finalized after the exchange of official documentation.
The Turkish giants have submitted a new official offer of just over six million euros, which exactly matches the current market value of the 33-year-old striker. Lukaku has already agreed on personal terms with the Istanbul club, and Napoli has accepted the offer. For now, there is only a verbal agreement between the clubs and the player, with official documents expected to be reviewed and exchanged during the day.
This transfer comes just days after Egyptian star Mohamed Salah ended his stint at Liverpool and signed for Trabzonspor. The duo will thus strengthen the Turkish league in the same transfer window, which is looking increasingly attractive to big names in world football this summer. Trabzonspor beat out domestic rivals for Salah's signature, and his arrival has drawn significant attention from the public and media in Turkey.
Lukaku boasts a rich club career, having scored 316 goals in 681 official appearances. In the last two seasons with Napoli, he was among the key players who contributed to winning the Italian league title in the 2024/25 season.
With the completion of this deal, he will further solidify his position as the second most expensive footballer in history when all transfers are tallied. His transfer saga began with a move from Anderlecht to Chelsea for €15 million, followed by a switch to Everton for €35 million. Manchester United later paid €85 million for him, then sold him to Inter for €74 million. Chelsea brought him back to London in a deal worth €113 million, before he moved to Napoli for €30 million. With this latest transfer to Fenerbahce, the total sum spent on his moves throughout his career will reach an incredible €376 million.
