The Croatian National Tourist Board's (HTZ) promotional video "Croatia, I Hear It's Beautiful," starring John Malkovich, has garnered a total of 17.3 million views in less than two months since its release, HTZ announced on Thursday, August 13, 2026. This figure combines views of the main six-minute video on YouTube and the shorter teaser version posted on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

YouTube Dominates Engagement

The main video on YouTube alone has surpassed six million views, with over 81,000 shares and more than 2,100 comments. The greatest interest came from viewers in the US, Poland, Italy, Germany, and Hungary, according to an HTZ statement reported by N1 Croatia.

The teaser also saw significant interaction: over 2,000 shares on Facebook, more than 17,000 on Instagram, and 1,500 on TikTok. The video was also filmed in Dubrovnik, as reported by Dubrovniknet.

Audience Reactions Beyond Official Channels

Beyond the numbers, HTZ highlights the quality of audience reactions. "For instance, the response on Reddit is interesting, where the video sparked spontaneous discussion among international users, with a host of positive comments praising its originality and humor," the HTZ statement reads.

Users also independently posted their own reviews and reactions on YouTube, with some of these videos attracting tens of thousands of views. "In these, audiences comment on and analyze the creative concept, script, humor, performance, and the way Croatia is presented, showing that the promotional video has captured attention and sparked interest and conversation beyond the official channels of the Croatian National Tourist Board," HTZ notes.

"In addition to the reach and engagement on social media, the audience's reactions to the video's content hold particular value. It's worth noting that a multitude of positive responses, aside from the domestic market, came from a global audience that views the video outside the Croatian national and emotional context."
