Marcelo Brozović, the 33-year-old former Croatian international, could continue his career in the United Arab Emirates. Brazilian journalist Pablo Oliveira has reported that Al Jazira from Abu Dhabi is interested in him. According to his information, the Emirati club is considering Brozović as one of their options on the market and plans to inquire about his current status.
Brozović is currently without a club after his three-year contract with Al Nassr expired. In the summer of 2023, he moved from Inter Milan to the Saudi club for a transfer fee of 18 million euros. He shared a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, but the two sides ultimately failed to agree on an extension after the contract expired in the summer of 2026.
Thus, for the first time in a long while, the Croatian midfielder can choose a new destination without a transfer fee. Before heading to Saudi Arabia, he spent over eight seasons at Inter, making 330 appearances. With the Italian club, he won the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles, and in 2023, he played in the Champions League final.
In the Croatian national team jersey, Brozović earned 99 caps and scored seven goals. After Euro 2024, he bid farewell to the national side. He was a key player in the generation that won silver at the 2018 World Cup and bronze four years later.
Al Jazira is among the most prestigious clubs in the UAE, having won the league title three times, and last season they finished fourth in the UAE Pro League. They play their home matches at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. For now, according to Oliveira's claims, there is no talk of an official offer or figures; the club is merely testing the waters regarding a potential signing.
Interestingly, Al Jazira had previously attempted to bring in a player from Croatian football. In early 2026, they were very close to signing Luka Stojković, a 22-year-old midfielder from Dinamo. At that time, the clubs had agreed on a fee of four million euros, with 3.5 million fixed and 500,000 in bonuses. Stojković received an offer for a multi-year contract but ultimately turned down the move to the UAE because he wanted to stay at Dinamo and fight for a bigger role.
