MotoGP championship leader Jorge Martin secured a convincing victory in the sprint race for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Spaniard dominated from the first to the last corner on his Aprilia, further solidifying his position at the top of the overall standings.
According to Sportske novosti, Martin started perfectly and brought the race to a close without major issues. He crossed the finish line with a 1.53-second advantage over second-placed Japanese rider Ai Ogura from the Trackhouse team. Third place on the podium went to Martin's Aprilia teammate, Italian Marco Bezzecchi, who finished 3.97 seconds behind the winner.
Defending champion Marc Marquez on the Ducati did not have his day. He finished the race disappointingly, slipping from sixth to a final ninth place, losing valuable points in the fight for the top.
With this result, Martin increased his lead in the overall standings. He now has 220 points to his name. Second-placed Ai Ogura trails with 203 points, while third-placed Marco Bezzecchi, with 193 points, overtook Marquez. The Spanish defending champion dropped to fourth position with 191 points.
Not everyone finished the race. According to information from the Anadolu Agency, Spanish rider Raul Fernandez suffered a crash and was forced to retire from the sprint race.
