On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the gaming community was shaken by a massive leak of data related to Grand Theft Auto VI. A group identifying itself as Cyberleek released gameplay footage and an alleged full map of the game, just days before the official presentation scheduled on Netflix. The news was first reported by the Telegram channel Clash Report.
According to Insider Paper, the footage allegedly shows co-protagonist Jason Duval at a waterfront property, where he approaches a basketball hoop and starts shooting. The same basketball setup resembles the one shown in earlier official GTA 6 materials, further fueling speculation about the authenticity of the footage.
The video also reveals parts of the user interface, including what appears to be a stamina meter and a currency counter. Twitter user GameVerse noted that the footage potentially runs at 60 FPS and shows ball physics and movement similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. It also mentions a daytime environment and two types of something that is not described in further detail.
In addition to the gameplay, Cyberleek also released a screenshot allegedly showing the entire GTA 6 map, known as Leonida. According to EGW, the map includes a marker for Jason's house and a mysterious alligator head icon nearby. Numerous colored markers scattered across the map could represent activities or business establishments such as clothing stores and tattoo parlors, although their exact purpose has not been confirmed.
Centro LEAKS posted the map image on Twitter, and according to available information, it allegedly contains five counties. It is important to note that Rockstar Games has not confirmed the authenticity of either the gameplay footage or the map.
Clash Report highlights that publisher Take-Two is aggressively removing leaked content via DMCA takedowns, which strongly suggests the leak is real. On the other hand, Insider Paper emphasizes that the material remains unverified and could be an early development version, modified Rockstar material, or even AI-generated content. 9to5Toys also warns about the possibility of AI-generated content.
Rockstar's official presentation titled 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look' will premiere on Netflix on August 27, 2026. This presentation should provide a reliable comparison for the details currently circulating online. The game itself, GTA 6, is officially scheduled for release on November 19, 2026.
The leak arrived at an interesting time, exactly nine days before the official presentation, sparking a wave of discussions among fans about how much the leaked material will match what Rockstar will officially show.
