Croatian crossbow shooters, led by the outstanding Mihaela Oborovečki, achieved remarkable success at the European Crossbow Championship. Oborovečki returns home with an impressive haul of four medals, including two golds in the Match play discipline, confirming the dominance of Zagorje crossbow shooting on the international stage.
Mihaela Oborovečki was unstoppable in the individual competition. After a bye into the quarterfinals, she strung together three convincing victories against French opponents. First, she defeated Jacob Ludivine with a maximum 6:0, then repeated the same score in the semifinals against Trouillet Tiffanie, and in the final, she beat Laure Chauvelot with another 6:0 to claim the European champion title.
Her day was far from over. In the afternoon, another final awaited her, this time in the team Match play. The CRO-2 team, featuring Mihaela alongside Marijan Kajfe and Andrej Krstinić, faced the Croatian CRO-1 team consisting of Domagoj Pereglin, Veronika Forjan, and Borna Bajser.
Oborovečki once again showed her class. With her series of 30-29-29-30, she propelled her team to victory, and CRO-2 ultimately triumphed 5:3 to secure the gold medal. This completed Mihaela's impressive medal collection: silver in the individual IAU Classic, gold in the women's team event, gold in individual Match play, and gold in team Match play.
Martin Oborovečki also delivered an excellent performance. In the bronze medal match in Match play, he defeated Frenchman Collin Aurelien 5:3. He thus won bronze at the championship, along with fourth place in the IAU Classic and gold in the men's team event.
In the all-Croatian final of individual Match play, Veronika Forjan beat Patricija Seljan 5:1, with Seljan taking silver. Seljan also added silver in the IAU Classic and team gold in the cadet category. Lovro Seljan returns home with silver in the IAU Classic and silver in the junior team competition.
In the junior competition, Borna Bajser secured a convincing victory against Chauvelot Justine in the gold medal match. He won 6:0 to claim the European champion title. Lovro Bjelobrk also succeeded in the bronze medal match, defeating Frenchman Guilloux Eloan.
Valentina Mrnjavčić Pereglin did not manage to win the bronze medal. Frenchwoman Trouillet Tiffanie won 6:0, leaving Valentina in fourth place. The gold and bronze medal matches in the men's and women's categories were broadcast live on French television, further highlighting the significance of this championship.
