The traditional Duke's Reception, held at the Alkars' Courts in Sinj, served as a prelude to the 311th edition of the Sinjska Alka. The central moment of the event was the presentation of an award to President Zoran Milanović, handed over by Stipe Jukić, president of the Knightly Alkars' Society.
This year's reception was not merely a ceremonial prelude to the knightly tournament but also a meeting place for Croatia's highest officials. Alongside President Milanović, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković, and several government ministers traveled to Sinj, underscoring the event's significance for national identity.
Following the official part of the reception, the alkars (knights) lined up for the review, after which the competition for the title of winner of the 311th Sinjska Alka commenced on the Alka racetrack. This is one of Croatia's oldest traditional events, held in memory of the historic victory of the people of Sinj over the Ottoman army in 1715. For centuries, this celebration has drawn crowds to Sinj and the entire Cetina region.
This year's Alka program does not end with the announcement of the winner. In the evening, a concert by Siniša Vuca is scheduled at Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square, set to entertain all visitors after an exciting day filled with tradition and sport.
