The Ministry of Science, Education and Youth has issued its 33rd decision on allocating funds for the construction, reconstruction, and equipping of primary school facilities.
The ministry responsible for science, education, and youth has issued its 33rd decision on the allocation of financial resources from the program aimed at constructing, renovating, and equipping primary school institutions, continuing the initiative designed to ensure adequate spaces for single-shift operation and the implementation of full-day schooling in Croatia.
According to data published by the Ministry, the decision was made under the call designated NPOO.C3.1.R1-I2.01 and covers projects for the construction of new school buildings, reconstruction of existing ones, and equipping spaces needed for better organization of classes. The issuance of the 33rd decision indicates that the evaluation process for applications and the allocation of funds is being carried out in several separate phases.
The key objective of the program is to ensure sufficient classrooms, specialized rooms, cafeterias, sports facilities, and other amenities required for single-shift operation. Many schools still operate in two or more shifts, which reduces the time available for additional educational programs, student support, and improving the quality of the school day.
Therefore, financial support is not limited solely to construction work. These investments should enable a different organization of teaching, safer and more practical spaces, and improved conditions for students and staff. The specific works depend on the needs of each school and the project submitted by the founder, whether it be a city, municipality, or county.
The decision represents an administrative step for projects that have passed the verification process according to the call's rules. Funding for primary schools through this program is conditional on a precisely defined purpose for the use of funds, timelines for implementation, and obligations undertaken by the beneficiaries. A complete list of projects, beneficiaries, and allocated amounts can be found in the documentation published by the relevant Ministry.
For local authorities, such decisions can mark the beginning of investments that have been planned for a long time, but after the allocation of funds, additional steps remain. These steps may include signing contracts, conducting public tenders, preparing or revising project documentation, and the actual execution of works. Therefore, the pace of implementation will not be the same for all selected projects.
The construction and renovation of school spaces are one of the prerequisites for expanding the full-day school model. Funding for primary schools should help remove infrastructural constraints, especially in areas where there is not enough space for single-shift teaching.
The publication of the 33rd decision confirms the continuity of the program, while the actual results will be visible after contracts are signed and individual projects are completed. Parents, school staff, and local communities will most closely monitor the deadlines for construction and renovation, as well as the moment when new or renovated spaces are ready for students.
