Starting August 20, residents of Vir can access health services from Mobile Clinic 2 of the Zadar County Health Center, three times a week at the Vir waterfront.
Starting Thursday, August 20, 2026, Mobile Clinic 2 of the Zadar County Health Center will begin operating at the Vir waterfront, next to the Vir Municipality building. Residents of Vir can use the services on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 AM to 1 PM, while on Mondays and Fridays the clinic will serve the island of Pag.
Although the initial intention was to send mobile clinics to rural areas, Vir was included in the schedule thanks to the initiative of the Vir Municipality and the efforts of Mario Kožul, deputy director of the Zadar County Health Center. "I wanted to make an exception when it comes to Vir, because our county's island areas don't have the same situation as, say, Split-Dalmatia County. During the summer season, there are around 100,000 people on Vir every day, which truly requires medical support. We'll do the job on Vir and then see what the turnout is like," Kožul said.
Kožul explained that mobile clinics operate with the aim of providing better healthcare to the population and that this is a national project that came to life this year. "By May and June, we received two mobile clinics, one intended for the islands and the other for rural areas. Now that we've completed the medical team, we immediately decided to include Vir in our schedule," he said.
Assembling the medical team proved to be a challenging task in a short time, but not because of finding a doctor to visit Vir, but rather because of finding a driver. That part of the job was also successfully completed.
In addition to Vir, the mobile clinic will also serve residents of Pag in the towns of Dinjiška and Šimuni, as well as other places in Zadar County such as Bruška, Žegar, Vrana, Nadin, Draga, and Kruševo. The doctor at the mobile clinic performs family medicine check-ups, provides advice, conducts basic diagnostics such as blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol measurements, and issues prescriptions and referrals. The services are especially intended for the elderly, less mobile individuals, and chronic patients.
The detailed schedule and routes can be followed on the Zadar County Health Center's website. For additional information, a contact email is also available: [email protected].
A mobile clinic, or mobile practice, is part of the network of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia. The medical team consists of a doctor and a nurse who provide care in modernly equipped vehicles, campers with a separate examination area and connections for independent operation.
