Bridge's Presidency has decided to initiate proceedings for a vote of no confidence in the Croatian Government, convening a meeting of all parliamentary clubs for Tuesday at noon. The primary reason is the environmental disaster in Gospić and, as they claim, systematic cover-up by the authorities.
The Presidency of Bridge decided on Monday, August 10, 2026, to initiate proceedings for a vote of no confidence in the Government of the Republic of Croatia. As the key reason, they cited the Lika affair and the environmental disaster linked to illegal disposal of hazardous waste in the Gospić area.
The party announced that they have convened a meeting with all parliamentary clubs and parties in the Croatian Parliament for Tuesday, August 11, at 12:00 PM. At the meeting, they will seek a joint initiative to topple the Government and call for an extraordinary session.
Bridge's MP Zvonimir Troskot had been warning for months about the illegal disposal of vast amounts of waste in Lika. He went to the field, demanded urgent analyses of drinking and groundwater, and the opening of e-ONTO records. He also demanded that the authorities publish all documentation on the origin and movement of waste, as well as establish accountability for all companies, institutions, and individuals involved.
According to Bridge, the results of expert assessments now indicate the severity of the situation and the threat to groundwater, soil, the environment, and public health. The party's Presidency concluded that responsibility must encompass the entire chain, from the Government and the relevant ministry to the State Inspectorate, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, and local and regional authorities.
"A government that ignored warnings for months, downplayed the scale of the environmental disaster, and assured the public there was no cause for concern has lost its political legitimacy to govern Croatia. The Presidency of Bridge believes that after the confirmed findings, we can no longer speak of individual failures but of a systematic cover-up of one of the largest environmental scandals in Croatia," Bridge stated.
Bridge also publicly warned about the presence of hazardous PFAS compounds and insisted on independent analyses. They also informed international institutions about the case, and Troskot demanded the declaration of a state of environmental emergency. However, as they claim, instead of responses from the authorities, he and the party were subjected to attacks, ridicule, and accusations of politicization for months.

At tomorrow's meeting in Parliament, discussions will focus on initiating the procedure for a vote of no confidence in the Government, a joint initiative to the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament to convene an extraordinary session, and other parliamentary steps. Bridge expressed its intention to hear the opinions of all clubs and attempt to reach a consensus on joint, decisive, and urgent action.
