During the weekend, from August 14 to 16, 2026, the Osijek-Baranja Police Department recorded a total of 252 traffic violations. Among them, 15 drivers were found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, as reported by Osijek Express.
The highest blood alcohol concentration was recorded on August 15 at 1:46 a.m. in Osijek, when police stopped a 31-year-old motorcyclist. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 2.71 promille.
The driver faces a fine of 1,600 euros, along with a protective measure banning him from driving B-category vehicles for nine months, and he will also receive six negative penalty points.
Of the 15 drivers under the influence of alcohol, there were 10 car drivers, four cyclists, and one motorcyclist. Over the weekend, police also recorded three drivers who refused a medical examination when there was suspicion they were driving under the influence of drugs. They face a fine of 1,320 euros, a three-month driving ban for B-category motor vehicles, and six negative penalty points.
In addition to driving under the influence, police officers also recorded 237 other traffic violations. Among these, speeding was the most common, with 105 cases, followed by eight cases of not wearing a seatbelt and 11 cases of improper mobile phone use while driving.
Police also recorded two cases of driving without a valid license, one case of driving while under a driving ban, and eight cases of driving an unregistered vehicle.
