Jamal Musiala, Bayern's 23-year-old forward, collapsed on the pitch again during a friendly match played on Tuesday. This is the second time in just three days that the German international has gone down on the field, sparking serious concern among fans and experts alike.
According to Index.hr, Musiala came on in the 61st minute, and just four minutes later, he began to stagger and fell without any contact with other players. The medical team rushed onto the pitch immediately, and teammates and opponents formed a circle around him. After a few minutes, he managed to get up with assistance, but appeared dazed and was promptly substituted and taken to the dressing room. 24sata reports that Musiala had to leave the pitch eight minutes after coming on, while Index.hr mentions four minutes, indicating differing estimates of the collapse time.
The first incident occurred three days earlier during the match against RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Musiala fainted due to the heat, and teammate Ismael Saibari was the first to notice what was happening and came to his aid. After a few minutes of medical attention, the player left the pitch on his own, but the German news agency DPA reported that he appeared dazed as he headed to the dressing room. A member of the medical team signaled with a thumbs-up that Musiala was out of danger. At the time of the match in Munich, temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, which is cited as one of the possible causes.
A few hours after the first collapse, Bayern's board member for sport commented. "The main thing is that he's okay," he briefly told Index.hr. Additional concern stems from the fact that Musiala broke his leg last summer at the FIFA Club World Cup in a match against PSG, and after months of recovery, he returned to Bundesliga pitches earlier this year.
Musiala was one of the key players for the German national team at the 2026 World Cup, where Germany unexpectedly exited in the round of 16 after a loss to Paraguay. For Bayern, he has so far played 231 matches, scored 69 goals, and provided 45 assists. Transfermarkt values him at 100 million euros.
Interestingly, sources disagree on the opponent in the friendly match where Musiala collapsed again. While 24sata states it was Hoffenheim, Index.hr writes that Bayern played against Heidenheim. As a result, the exact opponent remains unconfirmed, but the very fact of a second collapse in three days is alarming enough.
