Police in Zagreb arrested a 33-year-old man who caused a disturbance in the Trnje neighborhood last night. At a store on Avenija Marina Držića, he was disturbing the peace and threatened a 29-year-old employee, a Philippine national, as well as another foreign national legally residing in Croatia.
Police received the report of the incident at approximately 3:35 a.m. last night. When officers arrived at the scene, they asked the 33-year-old for his identification. He refused, then verbally and physically attacked one of the officers. He shoved the officer and attempted to flee, according to the Zagreb Police Department.
Police pursued the fleeing man and caught up with him on Radnička Road. To prevent further assault and escape, officers used pepper spray and restraints. The man was arrested and taken to a police facility.
Both the 33-year-old and the assaulted officer sustained minor injuries during the incident. They received medical attention at the police station. The investigation is ongoing to clarify all circumstances.
