An attempt to bring more than 238,000 tablets from the list of drugs into Croatia was stopped at the Batina border crossing. On Monday, August 17, 2026, at 8:26 AM, a 54-year-old Serbian citizen arrived as an incoming traveler behind the wheel of a truck with Serbian license plates.

During an inspection of the vehicle's cargo area, officers from the Customs Administration, Osijek Regional Customs Office, came across a hidden larger quantity of tablets. They reported the matter to the Osijek-Baranja Police Department.

Search Reveals 238,155 Tablets

Based on a court order, a detailed search of the truck was conducted. During this search, a total of 238,155 tablets were found and seized with a receipt. According to police reports, these are tablets containing an active substance listed on the list of drugs, psychotropic substances, and plants from which drugs can be obtained.

The driver was immediately arrested, and a criminal investigation was conducted by police officers from the Criminal Police Sector of the Osijek-Baranja Police Department. They established reasonable suspicion that he had committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs.

Handed Over to Detention Supervisor

The foreign national was handed over to the detention supervisor of the Osijek-Baranja Police Department on Tuesday at 1:30 PM. A criminal report was also filed against him with the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Osijek.
