Today, Marko Miloslavić, the municipal chief of Župa dubrovačka, hosted young water polo player Roko Koncul, who won the world championship title with the Croatian national team, a remarkable sporting achievement. The reception was held on August 18, 2026, and the chief extended his congratulations to Roko for his outstanding success, emphasizing that his result brings pride to his family, club, and the entire Župa dubrovačka, further affirming the area's strong water polo heritage.
Local Pride and a Testament to Tradition
In his address, Chief Miloslavić highlighted the deep connection between water polo and the region. "Water polo is a sport deeply tied to Dubrovnik, Župa, and our entire area. Generations have grown up by the pools and the sea, and the successes of young athletes like Roko show that this tradition is still alive. We are especially delighted when we have a young man from our Župa among the world champions. This is the result of hard work, sacrifice, and a love for the sport, and I sincerely congratulate him on that," said Chief Miloslavić.
Plans for Sports Infrastructure
During the reception, discussions also covered the conditions for sports development in Župa dubrovačka and the need to create better sports infrastructure that will provide children and young people with improved training and sports facilities. To that end, the Župa dubrovačka Municipality, in cooperation with partners, is working on a project to build an indoor pool in Kupari, which would significantly enhance the sports infrastructure of the area. Once the project is realized, it will enable year-round swimming and water polo, work with children and youth, and the development of new generations of athletes.
