Summary
  • Sunday brings more stable and sunnier weather across Croatia, with the heatwave continuing.
  • The morning will be fresher, with locally strong bura winds on the Adriatic, especially under Velebit.
  • The highest daytime temperatures, from 34 to 37°C, are expected in Dalmatia and the far south.
  • Early next week remains warm, with a slight chance of isolated showers in some regions.

Croatia can expect relatively stable, mostly sunny, and again hot weather on Sunday-a continuation of the heatwave that won't relent even after a noticeably cooler morning. Tomislava Hojsak, a meteorologist from the State Hydrometeorological Institute, presented the forecast for HRT, noting that bura winds will blow on the Adriatic, but daily temperatures will still reach high values.

East and Central Croatia: Sunshine with Moderate Southeast Wind

In the east of the country, Sunday will be sunny, with only occasional light cloud cover and weak to moderate east and southeast winds in places. Morning temperatures will be around 18°C, while daytime highs will rise to 32-34°C. Similar conditions are expected in central Croatia-sunny, with light winds, and a moderate southeast wind in the Podravina region during the morning. The morning will be less warm than Saturday's, with temperatures around 18°C, but the day will be hotter, reaching around 33°C.

West and Gorski Kotar: More Pleasant but Still Warm

The western part of the country will also see sunny weather, while in Gorski Kotar, it will be significantly more comfortable for many-morning temperatures there will be around 17°C, with daytime highs between 28 and 30°C. On the coast and islands of the northern Adriatic, however, the night will be very warm, often above 25°C, with maximum afternoon temperatures reaching 33-35°C. A locally strong bura under Velebit will weaken by midday and turn into a northwest and west wind.

Dalmatia and the South: Up to 37°C, Possible Afternoon Showers Inland

Dalmatia will see a similar scenario-first a weak to moderate bura, then a stronger maestral in the afternoon, with predominantly sunny weather. Local daytime cloud development inland brings only a slight chance of a shower, while the morning will be mostly very warm, with temperatures from 23 to 28°C, and the afternoon hot, between 34 and 37°C. A sunny and hot day is also forecast for the far south of Croatia, where local cloud development could also bring a shower, with morning temperatures ranging from 25 to 28°C.

Start of the Week: Sunshine, Isolated Showers, and the Return of Bura

In the coming days, the mainland will see mostly sunny weather, with isolated afternoon cloud development. The chance of a shower is slightly increased on Monday in Gorski Kotar, on Tuesday in the west and northwest of the country, and on Wednesday in the Dalmatian interior. Morning temperatures will drop slightly, while daytime highs will briefly rise again-until Wednesday, when the north wind will make it less hot.

The Adriatic will also be relatively stable and mostly sunny, with showers possible only on Tuesday in its northern part. At night, a weak to moderate bura will blow, and during the day, a maestral, while daytime temperatures will rise again after a slight dip at the start of the week. On Wednesday, with the strengthening of the bura, morning values will also increase-a contrast that will be felt by all those hoping for a break from the heat.

In addition to the general weather forecast, Jasmina Dobranić, a meteorologist from DHMZ's Agrometeorology Service, has prepared an agrometeorological forecast that could be of great use to farmers.
