After a sunny Saturday with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius, Sunday, July 26, 2026, brings a meteorological shift. A Mediterranean cyclone, moving from Italy toward the Adriatic, will cause unstable weather, with possible severe thunderstorms, as meteorologist Krunoslav Mikec forecasts for HRT.
In eastern Croatia, partly sunny but with increased cloud cover, there will be occasional passing rain or showers with thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. According to data reported by Dubrovniknet, the highest temperature in the east will be between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius, with lows between 11 and 15 degrees. Winds will be light to moderate from the south and southwest, with occasional strong gusts later in the day.
In central Croatia, the morning will be less cool than in previous days, with temperatures from 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will reach 27 to 30 degrees. It will be partly sunny with variable cloudiness, and in the afternoon and evening, rain and thunderstorms are expected in places. In Gorska Hrvatska (Mountainous Croatia), temperatures will be slightly lower, from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius, with a southwest wind.
On the northern Adriatic, temperatures will range between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius, with moderate to strong, locally stormy sirocco winds. According to HRT's forecast, rain and showers with thunderstorms are possible in the morning and around midday, especially in Istria, where local severe storms with heavy rainfall and stormy winds may occur. A second wave of showers is likely toward evening.
In Dalmatia, there is a high probability of local severe storms in the latter part of the day, with, in addition to temporarily stormy wind gusts and heavy rain, local conditions also favorable for hail. The sirocco will blow moderate to strong, and temperatures will be around 30 degrees Celsius, as expected in the far south of Croatia as well.
On the mainland on Monday, July 27, there may still be occasional showers or light rain in places, reports Dubrovniknet based on HRT's forecast. From Tuesday, July 28, mostly dry and sunny weather is expected on the mainland. Temperatures will gradually rise, and by midweek they will be above 30 degrees Celsius almost everywhere, which, according to HRT's forecast, opens the possibility of a new heatwave.
At the sea, sunny weather is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with southwest and northwest winds, and in the evening, night, and morning hours, locally bora winds. On Tuesday, July 28, there may be rain with thunderstorms in places, at night and in the morning in the south, and during the day in the northern Adriatic, according to HRT's forecast as reported by Dubrovniknet.
According to available forecasts, from Wednesday, July 29, until the end of the week, Croatia is expected to see stable, mostly sunny, and increasingly warmer weather with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius almost everywhere. Meteorologist Mikec for HRT announces the possibility of a new heatwave in the middle of the week, but specific details on intensity and duration have not yet been specified.
