  • Nighttime interruptions on A1, A3, and A6 due to exceptional transport last until August 12, and until September 2 for A3.

A traffic accident on the A4 motorway between Goričan and Zagreb caused significant restrictions for drivers on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. As reported by the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), the accident occurred between the Novi Marof and Breznički Hum interchanges, at kilometer 47+650 in the direction of Zagreb. Traffic is moving in only one lane, with a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour in force.

Nighttime Interruptions on A1 and A6 Due to Exceptional Transport

Drivers on the A1 Zagreb-Split-Dubrovnik and A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorways can also expect temporary traffic interruptions during the night. Until August 12, from 01:00 to 05:00, short stops of up to 15 minutes will be implemented on the A1. These interruptions will occur when exceptional transport joins the main motorway route in the area of the toll stations and the Karlovac interchange in the direction of Zagreb, when passing through the Demerje and Lučko CNP zones in the direction of Zagreb, and when joining the A3 motorway in the Lučko interchange area and exiting onto the A3 in the Zagreb zapad interchange area. Simultaneously, on the A6, from 01:00 to 04:00, traffic will be temporarily halted on the section from the Rijeka CNP to the Kikovica interchange, in both directions.

Additionally, from August 3 to September 2, during four night periods between 22:00 and 04:00, traffic will be briefly stopped on the A3 motorway in the Županja interchange area due to the passage of exceptional transport.

Roadworks Alter Driving Patterns on A3, A4, and A7

On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac motorway, several long-term changes are in effect. Due to drainage repair works between the Popovača and Kutina interchanges, until September 1, traffic in the direction of Lipovac is moving in two narrowed lanes, and HAK warns of possible delays and queues, especially on Fridays. Until August 31, the Kraljeva Velika rest areas are closed in both directions. Due to works between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad interchanges, until October 3, two-way traffic is in place on the carriageway in the direction of Bregana, with narrowed lanes. Until December 31, due to traffic relief on the approach to the Zagreb zapad interchange from the directions of Lipovac, Bregana, and Macelj, traffic is moving in one lane with temporary traffic management.

On the A4 motorway, in addition to the aforementioned accident, until August 30, works are ongoing on the Zagreb istok-Popovec section, where between kilometers 91+800 and 95 in the direction of Goričan, traffic is moving in both directions with a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour. On the A7 Rupa-Rijeka-Šmrika motorway, until June 11, 2027, due to the reconstruction of the intersection of state roads DC8 and DC66 in the area of the Matulji, Opatija interchange, traffic in both directions is moving on a narrowed carriageway.

Istrian Y and Roadworks on State Roads

On the Istrian Y (A8/A9), construction works are underway to build the full motorway profile of the A8, where traffic is moving in both directions on narrowed carriageways and auxiliary lanes. On the Učka tunnel-Matulji interchange section, special traffic management is in place with possible occasional traffic interruptions. Due to works on duplicating the Limska Draga viaduct, passage for exceptional transports wider than 3.00 meters is restricted in both directions.

On state road DC1, from the shopping center in Zaprešić, traffic is being led in one narrowed lane with temporary traffic management, and until November 30, works are ongoing on the Otrić-Zrmanja section. On DC2, until December 17, due to works, traffic is prohibited between the intersection with ŽC4111 and the entrance to Vukovar, with a detour via DC213 and DC519.

Closed Sections and Bans on State Roads

Numerous closed sections are causing significant difficulties for drivers. Until August 25, the DC28 section between Bjelovar and Letičani is closed, with a detour for heavy goods vehicles via the southern and eastern bypass of Bjelovar. Until August 12, the DC29 section Kašina-Laz Bistrički is closed to all traffic, with a detour route for vehicles heavier than 7.5 tons leading all the way via the Zagreb bypass. Until September 21, the DC29 section between Prepuštovec and Gajec is also closed, and until November 2, the road is closed in the town of Novi Golubovec.

Until September 1, the DC34 section Donji Miholjac-Sveti Đurađ is closed. Due to the reconstruction of the Veličanka bridge, until December 15, state road DC38 in Požega is closed, and until September 9, the section between Blacko and Vesela is also closed. Until December 31, due to damage to the bridge over the Dobra River, on DC42 in Hreljin Ogulinski, traffic is prohibited for vehicles heavier than 15 tons.

Bans for Heavy Goods Vehicles and Bridges

Until December 31, a traffic ban is in effect for vehicles heavier than 7.5 tons on the Erdut II bridge on DC213, on DC24 on the Rakovec-Varaždinske Toplice section, and on DC204 in Pribanjci due to bridge damage. Due to works on the bridge in Gunja, on DC214 at the Gunja-Brčko border crossing, traffic is prohibited for heavy goods vehicles and buses. Until further notice, DC546 in Petričko Selo is closed, and due to damage to the roadway on DC547 Sveti Rok-Jasenice (Majstorska cesta), a traffic ban is in effect for all vehicles.

Summer Bans for Trucks and Exceptional Transport

A summer traffic ban is also in effect for heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 7.5 tons on certain state roads in Istria and the coastal area. The ban applies on Saturdays from 04:00 to 14:00 and Sundays from 12:00 to 23:00, until September 15. Additionally, from August 11 to 13, between midnight and 5 a.m., exceptional transport will be carried out on the route from the Bregana border crossing to the Goričan border crossing, which will cause short traffic stops, lasting up to 15 minutes, on the A3 and A4 motorways in the Bregana, Sveta Helena, and Goričan CNP zones.
