HAK warns of a 40 km/h speed limit on the A7 towards Rupa, increased traffic towards the coast, and roadworks on several motorway sections.
A traffic accident in the Škurinje I tunnel on the A7 motorway towards Rupa caused disruptions this morning. According to the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), traffic is being diverted into a single lane with a speed limit of 40 km/h.
The accident occurred on the carriageway towards Rupa, and HAK issued the warning in its regular road report for August 17, 2026.
Increased traffic density is being recorded on the A1 motorway between Zagreb and Bosiljevo towards the coast. There is also an increased influx of vehicles at the Lučko toll plaza towards the coast, while on the A3 towards the Lučko toll plaza from the direction of Buzin, a queue approximately 2 kilometers long has formed.
On the A2 motorway connecting Zagreb and Macelj, a higher number of vehicles approaching the Trakošćan toll station while traveling towards Zagreb has been observed, further complicating movement on that section of the road.
HAK also warns of numerous roadworks that will last until the end of August and the beginning of September. On the A2, traffic is restricted to the driving lane on the Krapina, Đurmanec section towards Macelj (from km 17+500 to km 13+750) and on the Trakošćan, Đurmanec section towards Zagreb (from km 6+700 to km 8+200).
On the A3 Bregana-Lipovac, the Kraljeva Velika north and south rest areas are closed in both directions until August 31. Drainage rehabilitation on the Popovača junction, Kutina junction section towards Lipovac will last until September 1, and roadworks between the Sveta Nedelja and Zagreb zapad junctions until October 3. On this section, the carriageway towards Lipovac is closed, and traffic is diverted to two-way traffic on the carriageway towards Bregana.
On the A4 Goričan-Zagreb, roadworks are underway until August 30 on the Zagreb istok-Popovec section, where traffic towards Goričan is reduced to one lane with a speed limit of 80 km/h.
Until September 5, 2026, an abnormal transport will be moving on the route from the Karamatići border crossing (A1) to the Bisko junction (A1) from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. In the area of the Županja junction, from August 3 to September 2, traffic will be briefly stopped in four nightly intervals between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM due to the passage of abnormal transport.
At some border crossings towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, increased traffic of both passenger and freight vehicles has been recorded.
According to HAK's forecast, roads across the country will be wet and slippery, with possible localized flooding. Due to occasionally heavy rain, there is a higher risk of rockfalls on mountain roads.
Driving will be slower on urban roads and bypasses, especially on the Zagreb (A3) and Rijeka bypasses, on the A2 motorway near the Zagreb zapad junction towards Zagreb, and on the A4 motorway between the Popovec and Zagreb istok junctions. Heavier traffic is also expected on roads connecting the coast with the interior.
