Summary
  • In Bjelovar, a car with a hand-drawn license plate was filmed on August 4.
  • Istrian police reported a chain collision on August 3 on road D66 near Most Raša.
  • Three people were injured in the crash, including a child, and the cause was a 25-year-old female driver who failed to maintain distance.

On August 4, 2026, a sight that surprised many was seen in Bjelovar. The editorial team of the portal Bjelovar.live received a video from the city center showing a passenger car with a handwritten license plate instead of a standard metal plate.

Unusual Improvisation

The footage clearly shows a combination of letters and numbers written on paper or cardboard, placed in the spot designated for a license plate. What happened to the original plate is not yet known. The portal Bjelovar.live speculates that it may have been lost or damaged, but does not rule out other possibilities. "In any case, it seems that the car's owner managed in a very creative way," the post states.

Although it is not known whether this solution is legally permissible, one thing is certain, such a sight is rare and momentarily brought a smile to passersby and viewers of the video.

Chain Collision in Istria

On the other hand, news of a more serious traffic incident arrived the same day. Istrian police reported a chain collision that occurred on August 3, 2026, at around 3:55 PM in the settlement of Most Raša, on state road D66.

According to the police statement, the accident was caused by a 25-year-old female driver who was driving a car with Pula license plates from the direction of Raša toward Barban. Upon approaching the residential buildings, due to failing to maintain a safe distance, she struck the rear of the car in front of her, driven by a 67-year-old man.

Due to the force of the impact, the 67-year-old's car was pushed forward and hit a third car, also with Pula plates, driven by a 29-year-old woman.

Three Injured, Including a Child

Three people were injured in this chain collision. Both female drivers, the 25-year-old and the 29-year-old, as well as a child who was a passenger in the 29-year-old's car, sustained injuries. The Istrian police cannot yet specify the severity of the injuries.

"In the traffic accident that occurred on August 3 at around 3:55 PM in the settlement of Most Raša, three people were injured. (...) Depending on the extent of the injuries, an appropriate report will be filed against the 25-year-old," the Istrian police announced.

The young driver who caused the accident will face an appropriate report, depending on the final medical assessment of the injuries of all involved.
