Everyday traffic incidents can surprise, but what was recorded in Bjelovar on August 4, 2026, is truly a rare sight. The Bjelovar.live portal received a video from the city center showing a car with a handwritten license plate instead of the usual metal plate.
The video clearly shows a combination of letters and numbers written on paper or cardboard, placed where the license plate should be. What happened to the original plate is not yet known. The Bjelovar.live portal speculates that it may have been lost or damaged, but does not rule out the possibility of a completely different reason behind it. "In any case, it seems the car owner found a very creative solution," the post states.
Although it is not known whether this solution complies with the law, one thing is certain, such a sight is rare and momentarily brought a smile to passersby and viewers of the video.
In contrast to the curiosity in Bjelovar, the same day brings news of a much more serious traffic incident. Istrian police reported a chain collision that occurred the day before, on August 3, 2026, at around 3:55 PM in the settlement of Most Raša, on state road D66.
According to the police statement, the accident was caused by a 25-year-old female driver who was driving a car with Pula license plates from the direction of Raša toward Barban. Upon approaching the residential buildings, due to failure to maintain a safe distance, she struck the rear of the car in front of her, driven by a 67-year-old man.
Due to the force of the impact, the 67-year-old's car was pushed forward and hit a third car, also with Pula license plates, driven by a 29-year-old woman.
In this chain collision, three people were injured. Both female drivers, the 25-year-old and the 29-year-old, as well as a child who was a passenger in the 29-year-old's car, sustained injuries. Istrian police cannot yet specify the severity of the injuries.
"In the traffic accident that occurred on August 3 at around 3:55 PM in the settlement of Most Raša, three people were injured. (...) Depending on the severity of the injuries, an appropriate report will be filed against the 25-year-old," Istrian police announced.
An appropriate report will be filed against the young driver who caused the accident, depending on the final medical assessment of the injuries of all involved.
