Eighteen-year-old athlete Nina Vrdoljak, a member of the Athletic Club Fortius Zadar, achieved a new personal best at the World Junior Championships in Eugene, USA. On the iconic Hayward Field, she ran the 200-meter race in 24.21 seconds, improving her best result of the season by ten hundredths of a second.
This is already the fifth time this competitive season that Vrdoljak has broken her own limits, and according to Antena Zadar, she is accompanied in America by her longtime Fortius coach, Edi Stipić. Although she finished 47th among 75 competitors, the impression she left far surpasses her placement.
Nina ran her race decisively, showing not a hint of fear of the grand world stage. She left behind numerous athletes who arrived in Eugene with significantly better results, demonstrating character in the biggest test of her career so far.
In a moment she will surely remember for a long time, it was clear how much she enjoyed it, she didn't calculate, didn't back down, and didn't give up in advance.
The story for the young woman from Zadar doesn't end here. Already today, Saturday, August 8, 2026, she has another appearance at the World Championships, this time in the national 4x100 meter relay. The relay is scheduled for 12:03 PM local time, or 9:03 PM Croatian time.
