Football club NK Korana Turanj-Karlovac now has a new, modern home. Karlovac Mayor Damir Mandić and club president Mario Goršić took part in the handover ceremony of the newly built sports complex in Turanjski Lug on Friday, August 8, 2026. This marks the completion of a significant investment by the City of Karlovac in sports infrastructure, worth €2,451,434.
The new pitch, measuring 100 x 70 meters, is equipped with artificial turf and floodlights, with temporary stands installed alongside. A club building has also been constructed, housing three changing rooms for players, separate changing rooms for referees, a meeting room, an office, and storage space. The facility meets all necessary sanitary and ancillary standards.
As part of the project, the surrounding area has been landscaped, including a parking lot with 82 spaces for cars, seven spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility, and two spaces designated for buses. The investment was fully financed by the City of Karlovac, and the construction work was carried out by the company GIPS-MONT.
Mayor Mandić emphasized that this pitch is an important investment in the development of sports in Karlovac, especially for children and young people. He expressed confidence that the new complex will provide additional impetus for the club's good results, which has been bringing together footballers from Turanj and surrounding areas for generations. "Turanj will get a place that will come alive through sports activities, socializing, and togetherness across all generations," he said.
Prior to this, the City of Karlovac and NK Korana signed an agreement on the management and use of the public sports facility, and after today's handover, the club formally took over the pitch and the accompanying building.
There won't be a long wait for the first official match on the new pitch. As early as August 23, 2026, NK Korana will host NK Vrlovka in a cup match, and the official opening of the sports complex will take place on the same day. This will be a true football premiere for Korana's new home in front of home fans.
