Family and friends gathered on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 7 PM in front of the monastery in Rožat to hold a solemn procession in memory of 20-year-old Patrik Kajinić. The procession, named 'Truth for Patrik', was organized by the Facebook group 'Mokošica for Patrik' and concluded at the site of Patrik's death on Rijeka dubrovačka, where candles were lit in his memory.
Patrik Kajinić was killed in a traffic accident on Rijeka dubrovačka on Monday, July 27, 2026. The young motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was taken to Dubrovnik Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Open Questions About the Circumstances of the Accident
Pero Čejović, administrator of the Facebook group 'Mokošica for Patrik', raised a series of questions during the procession about the circumstances leading to the tragedy. He noted that the police report attributes blame to Patrik, but due to numerous comments on social media and statements suggesting otherwise, they want the family to see the footage to dispel all doubts.
"Patrik was our guy from Mokošica. He wasn't born here, but Mokošica meant everything to him. His childhood, his people, and it was here that he left us too soon. We gathered here to find out the truth about the last days of his life. We don't know exactly what happened, but we know Patrik is no longer with us. The police report says Patrik was at fault for the accident, but because of many comments on social media and statements that say otherwise, we want the family to see the footage to clear up any doubts. We ask ourselves: if the 'cobras' didn't use their batons, lights, or sirens, how did they intend to stop him? If there was no chase, why were they driving behind him, why did they intercept him, why were they driving after him along a river full of pedestrians at 6 PM in the afternoon? These are the questions we are asking here today. No one is diminishing Patrik's responsibility; we just wonder if it is shared. We want the truth," Čejović said.
Mother Demands Footage Regardless of the Outcome
Patrik's mother, Ana Lenert, emphasized that she is not pointing fingers at anyone but simply wants to find out what really happened. She also stated that no one from the police informed them about Patrik's accident.
"I want to know the truth, whatever it may be. If my son was solely at fault for the accident, fine. Nothing can bring him back. I'm just interested in the footage, so I can see for myself," said Patrik's mother, Ana Lenert.
The family of Patrik Kajinić has stated they will do everything to bring the truth, whatever it may be, to light. Photos and video footage from the procession were captured by Ivana Žuvela Kalina for Dubrovnik Insider.
